Apple Leisure Group Announces Key Addition to Executive Team

New Vice President of Development to Drive Company's Aggressive Expansion Plans in Caribbean and Latin America

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 28, 2014)— Today Apple Leisure Group (ALG) announced the addition of Fernando Fernandez to its executive team as part of the company's growth strategy. As Vice President of Development, Fernandez will focus on increasing AMResorts' brand management footprint in the Caribbean and Latin America by securing partnerships with hotel owners and developers in these high-demand markets.

“Fernando is a hospitality industry veteran with more than three decades of experience in hotel operations, consultancy, and most recently, development. His considerable expertise not only adds value, but will help us accelerate our expansion goals in key markets,” said Javier Coll, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Apple Leisure Group.

Fernandez’s previous experience includes eight years as Vice President of Development for Meliá Hotels International in Europe, across the Americas and the Caribbean. During his tenure, Fernando successfully negotiated high-profile additions to Meliá’s management portfolio, including Meliá Jamaica, which introduced Spain’s largest hotel company to the English Caribbean. Most recently, he oversaw the addition of Meliá Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.

Prior to working with Meliá Hotels International, Fernando managed key accounts for LRA Worldwide, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts (Latin America), Grupo Posadas (Mexico) and Accor Hotels (Latin America).

Based in Miami, Fernaandez will report directly to Javier Coll, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Apple Leisure Group.
