ALEJANDRO ZOZAYA-GOROSTIZA
President

Alejandro Zozaya-Gorostiza has served as president of AMResorts since its inception in 2001, focusing his efforts on investor and owner relations. Named one of the 100 Rising Stars in the Travel Industry Worldwide by Travel Agent Magazine in 1998, at age 34, he has over two decades of impressive history in the travel and tourism industry.

With an incredible aptitude for sales generation, profit growth, marketing innovation, administrative efficiency and confident leadership, Zozaya has taken the luxury vacation experience to new heights, most specifically in the upscale resort markets of the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico.

Armed with remarkable business acumen, Mr. Zozaya’s experience in corporate sales and marketing are impressive. Prior to joining AMResorts, he was managing director for Fiesta Americana Cancun Resort, responsible for the five-star resort’s sales, administration and operations. Zozaya also served as vice president of sales and marketing for Fiesta Americana Hotels & Resorts in Mexico City, managing all commercial actions for one of Latin America’s largest hotel consortiums. In his role as Corporate Sales Director, Alex was the point person for all Fiesta Americana hotels sales directors in the country; tasked with the creation and implementation of the properties’ marketing plans and budgets.

Prior to that, Alex was the groups and conventions director at Condesa Cancun Resort, which eventually led him to become the property’s sales director. He’s also held positions as the F&B manager at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Mexico City, and at Berny Inns Hotels & Restaurants in London, England.

In 2009, Mr. Zozaya graced the cover of the prestigious Mexican business magazine Expansión, in which he was proclaimed an Audacious Hotelier for the Flu-Free Guarantee strategy. In that same year, Alex received the Entrepreneurial Hotel of the Year, the Medal of Tourism Merit given by the Miguel Aleman Foundation and Hotelier of the Year.

Alta Hoteleria named Alex the “Hotelier of the Year,” awarding him the Diamante award for his outstanding contribution to international hotel businesses. Most recently, Mr. Zozaya was honored with the “Anáhuac Leadership Medal,” from the Anáhuac University of South Mexico, one of Mexico’s leading private, higher education institutions. He was the first individual to receive this award. Mr. Zozaya is fluent in Spanish and English, and has a good understanding of Italian.

GONZALO DEL PEÓN SUÁREZ
Executive Vice President

A true travel and tourism industry expert, Executive Vice President Gonzalo del Peón Suárez brings more than two decades of sales, marketing and operational experience to AMResorts and is responsible for investor and owner relations as well the company’s overall marketing and sales strategies. Del Peón originally joined AMResorts as vice president of sales and marketing and was promoted in 2003 to his current position.

Del Peón’s extensive hospitality experience includes leadership positions with Grupo Posadas, one of the leading hotel companies in Latin America operating hotels in Mexico, the United States, Brazil and Argentina. While with Grupo Posadas, he made a significant contribution to the growth of the renowned company. Del Peón’s dynamic set of strengths of maximizing, strategizing, analyzing, competing and achieving earned him an excellent and admirable reputation throughout the travel and tourism community and accelerated his outstanding career.

Del Peón began his professional career with Richardson Vicks in Mexico City, a large consumer-goods company acquired by Procter & Gamble, working his way up to brand manager followed by the position of project manager for Equipamientos Técnicos Comerciales in Spain.

Since 1999, del Peón has served as a member of the Consejo de Promocion Turistica de Mexico (Mexico Council Marketing Committee).

JAVIER COLL DE SAN SIMON
Chief Financial Officer

AMResorts Chief Financial Officer Javier Coll De San Simon joined the company as chief operating officer in 2002. Promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2004, Coll is involved in analyzing and selecting resort acquisitions as well as overseeing finances, administration, new implementations and standard operating procedures for AMResorts’ five brands: Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Now Resorts & Spas and Sunscape Resorts & Spas. He also is responsible for supervising all project development and construction of new hotels for AMResorts, the fastest-growing all-inclusive resort management company in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Prior to joining AMResorts, Coll served as general deputy director of MAC Hotels based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He has held various leadership positions throughout his 15 years in the travel and hospitality arena including, managing director for hotels and travel agencies, controller, chief financial officer, general manager and head of the international area for the Barcelo Group in Spain. Coll began his career in 1995 as an economist, where he developed viability studies regarding the transition from traditional European-plan hotels to the all-inclusive format.

A native of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Coll graduated from Barcelona University with a degree in economics and business administration and a master’s degree in Public Funds and Tributary Procedures.

COLETTE BARUTH
Vice President of Sales & Marketing

As Vice President of Sales and Marketing for AMResorts, Colette Baruth is responsible for worldwide contracting, partnership relations, global sales and marketing strategies & resources, as well as managing brand strategies and corporate policies for AMResorts five brands: Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets, Dreams, Now and Sunscape Resorts & Spas. With over two decades of international product and marketing experience, Ms. Baruth is a true hospitality and tourism expert evidenced by her extensive industry knowledge, increase in profitability and streamlined processes.

She most recently served as Vice President of Product Strategy at LibGo Travel by Flight Centre Ltd. of Australia Vice President of Product Strategy, responsible for profitability, pricing, product distribution, promotional strategy and more. She had successfully created promotional concepts and programs and marketing campaigns, driving sales and increasing market share. Previous to her role as VP of Product Strategy, Ms. Baruth was in charge of global distribution strategy of Mexico, Central and South American travel products throughout 1,588 Flight Centre business units in ten countries worldwide, including the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and more. Prior to LibGo Travel/Flight Centre Ltd., Ms.Baruth held marketing positions with Liz Claiborne, Inc., in New York City and Radisson Hotels International in Barcelona, Spain.

Colette has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, and received a Language Study degree from the Universidad de Salamanca in Seville, Spain. She is fluent in Spanish and Italian.

MATTHEW J. MULLEN
Senior Director of Sales

As the Senior Director of Sales for AMResorts, Matthew J. Mullen is the company's key leader for the entire sales team. With five brands to manage, Mullen strives to create long-standing relationships within the industry for AMResorts, which has made him a driving force in the company's sales efforts. From tour operators to travel agents, Mullen knows the ins and outs of the sales function - and assists in making AMResorts the fastest growing all-inclusive resort company in Mexico and the Caribbean.

An aristocrat of the tourism industry, Mullen is a native to the back-end of the hotel business. Since 1994, he has worked his way from being an inside sales manager on up. In 2001, he joined AMResorts as Director of Sales, and assisted in the launch of the company's Sunscape and Secrets Resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. He also oversaw the entire sales and marketing function as well as the sales staff at each of the resorts.

Mr. Mullen earned a Bachelor's Degree from Villanova University.

JAN LaPOINTE
Senior Director of Marketing

Jan LaPointe is Senior Director of Marketing for AMResorts worldwide. LaPointe plays an integral role in the development of the company's five brands: Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Now Resorts & Spas and Sunscape Resorts & Spas. She has leadership responsibility for AMResorts' worldwide marketing function and oversees the company's public relations and advertising agencies.

She has been a tourism marketing professional for over 20 years, with both domestic and international experience. Ms. LaPointe will lead the development and acceleration of the company's marketing efforts as AMResorts continues on a growth spurt as the fastest growing all-inclusive resort company in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Ms. LaPointe most recently served as Regional Director for the retail offices of Canada 3000 Tickets, Canada's second largest airline. She led the expansion of the Eastern Canada Ticket offices, as well as led and managed the needs of the airline employees business and leisure flight requirements. Prior to this, she served as the Canadian Manager for QANTAS Vacations (Jetabout), the Australian Airline's vacation division and largest provider of North Americans to Australia. She also dedicated her time and experience as a Manager for a global consolidator & tour operator, Jetset Tours as well as a Supervisor for American Express Travel.

ALEJANDRO ZUBIETA
Director of Revenue Management & Distribution

AMResorts Director of Revenue Management & Distribution, Alejandro Zubieta, joined the company in 2003 as Director of Sales for Secrets Resorts & Spas in the Riviera Maya. In his current position, Zubieta is responsible for creating strategies to optimize revenue for all brands under AMResorts through various sources of business as well as developing all the AMResorts proprietary channels of distribution.

Prior to joining AMResorts, Zubieta worked for major hotel brands located in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. He has served as Director of Sales & Marketing for Fiesta Americana and Royal Hideaway by Allegro Resorts, as well as Regional Director of Sales for Sheraton Cancun and Westin Cancun. In all of these positions, Zubieta created a solid foundation of achieving revenue goals, maintaining brand positioning and creating and enjoyable experience for guests.

Zubieta was recognized by Expedia as the Top E-Commerce Manager in Cancun in 2000 and 2001. Extremely involved with industry activities, Zubieta founded the Cancun Chapter of HSMAI and the Groups & Convention Marketing Committee of the Cancun Visitors & Conventions Bureau, he also served as Marketing Manager of the Cancun Hotel Association.

ERICA DOYNE
Director of Marketing

Erica Doyne, Director of Marketing, has been with AMResorts for over six years, overseeing all global marketing and PR strategies for North America, Latin America and the United Kingdom. Mrs. Doyne plays a significant role for AMResorts' strategic task force, created to conceive, develop and successfully open new luxury resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. Mrs. Doyne is dedicated to identifying, executing and analyzing new marketing opportunities to further develop AMResorts' five luxury brands: Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets, Dreams, Now and Sunscape Resorts & Spas, via the development and execution of brand vision, messaging, standards and goals.

Mrs. Doyne's industry experience begins with her early AMResorts' positions that included responsibilities providing strategic marketing leadership, promotions, brand management and event planning, as well as the creation and maintenance of all sales, marketing and business development. Prior to landing at AMResorts, Mrs. Doyne was an instrumental member of the sales force for WPVI-TV, Philadelphia.

Mrs. Doyne has earned a Bachelor of Communication from La Salle University.

PEPE RIVERA
Director of Development and New Projects

Pepe Rivera, Director of Development and New Projects, has been the point person for all development projects since 2004. He has overseen the company's refurbishment efforts for four properties, the expansion of three properties and the construction of eight new properties. While overseeing these projects, Mr. Rivera also seeks out new prime opportunities for expansion and growth.

In his career up until AMResorts, Mr. Rivera enjoyed success as CEO for Mansion Imperial Acapulco, focusing on the construction of this five-star hotel group. He also served as CEO for Expo & Convention Center Las Americas, opening the first successful Convention Center, having had no past experience in the city. Pepe was also Managing Director for Hotel Camino Real Mexico, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, and held top positions as Vice President of Operations for the Westin Hotels in Mexico and Latin America as well as Owner’s Representative for Ritz Carlton Cancun.

Mr. Rivera's track record speaks for itself. He has been a Bailli Honorario de Cancun / Maitre Hotelier since 1979, an international associate of the legendary gastronomic society, Chaîne des Rotisseurs; is a member of Asociación de Escuelas Hoteleras Europas; and the Founder / President of Honorario Vitalico. Pepe received his Doctorate in Advanced Administration from Colegio de Graduados, Mexico.

VIOLETA SALES
Corporate Director of Groups, CMP and CMM

Violeta Sales, Corporate Director of Groups, represents AMResorts’ five brands as a director of groups, meetings and incentives; with business origination throughout the United States and Canada. Equally as importantly, she is responsible for maximizing revenues and achieving targeted corporate goals and objectives.

Sales represents Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Dreams, Now and Sunscape Resorts & Spas through the meeting and incentive market by coordinating all logistical aspects — at the multitude of associations, planner events, trade shows and other industry gatherings.

Violeta has a proven track record that spans two decades as a top-performing Director of Group Sales with Sol Meliá helping increase revenues. Her extensive knowledgebase and acumen has grown out of the development and nurturing of relationships with some of North America’s most notable clients in the meetings and incentives market.

Violeta possesses impressive business judgment, negotiation, and closing skills as well as a strong presenter. She is also a CMP and CMM, two of the most prestigious certifications in the industry.
