ALEJANDRO ZOZAYA-GOROSTIZA
President
Alejandro Zozaya-Gorostiza has served as president of AMResorts since its inception in 2001, focusing his efforts on investor and owner relations. Named one of the 100 Rising Stars in the Travel Industry Worldwide by Travel Agent Magazine in 1998, at age 34, he has over two decades of impressive history in the travel and tourism industry.
With an incredible aptitude for sales generation, profit growth, marketing innovation, administrative efficiency and confident leadership, Zozaya has taken the luxury vacation experience to new heights, most specifically in the upscale resort markets of the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico.
Armed with remarkable business acumen, Mr. Zozaya’s experience in corporate sales and marketing are impressive. Prior to joining AMResorts, he was managing director for Fiesta Americana Cancun Resort, responsible for the five-star resort’s sales, administration and operations. Zozaya also served as vice president of sales and marketing for Fiesta Americana Hotels & Resorts in Mexico City, managing all commercial actions for one of Latin America’s largest hotel consortiums. In his role as Corporate Sales Director, Alex was the point person for all Fiesta Americana hotels sales directors in the country; tasked with the creation and implementation of the properties’ marketing plans and budgets.
Prior to that, Alex was the groups and conventions director at Condesa Cancun Resort, which eventually led him to become the property’s sales director. He’s also held positions as the F&B manager at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Mexico City, and at Berny Inns Hotels & Restaurants in London, England.
In 2009, Mr. Zozaya graced the cover of the prestigious Mexican business magazine Expansión, in which he was proclaimed an Audacious Hotelier for the Flu-Free Guarantee strategy. In that same year, Alex received the Entrepreneurial Hotel of the Year, the Medal of Tourism Merit given by the Miguel Aleman Foundation and Hotelier of the Year.
Alta Hoteleria named Alex the “Hotelier of the Year,” awarding him the Diamante award for his outstanding contribution to international hotel businesses. Most recently, Mr. Zozaya was honored with the “Anáhuac Leadership Medal,” from the Anáhuac University of South Mexico, one of Mexico’s leading private, higher education institutions. He was the first individual to receive this award. Mr. Zozaya is fluent in Spanish and English, and has a good understanding of Italian. |
